A dog town first

Ferndale is a dog town before it's anything else. Wilson Park and the blocks around Livernois see leashes from first light on. It's a small city packed tight, so yards don't run big here. Lots of dogs on small lots is why a yard fills up quickly.

Bungalow-sized yards

Much of Ferndale is bungalows and post-war cottages, set close together on lots from the auto-plant era. On a yard that size there's nowhere for the mess to hide. One dog and one busy week, and it shows right where you and the neighbors both look.

Behind the grill, too

On your set day the yard gets cleared corner to corner, along the fence line and behind the grill. Then it leaves bagged, off the property, so nothing waits for you to find it. On weekly and twice-a-week memberships, winter adds your walkway and steps, shoveled and salted, so the path in from Hilton Road stays clear. If your dog's a Ferndale Dog Park regular, the yard is ready to cross on the way out.

Set a day

Ferndale yards are small; the mess doesn't have to be a job anyway. Set your day, and the yard stops being something you think about.

Ferndale's lots run small, a bungalow yard and not a back forty. On grass that size, one dog's week adds up quickly, and a cleared yard is one the whole family can use.
